Running Institutional Ops from Hong Kong

Eridian is a Dubai company. Headquarters stays in Dubai. Hong Kong is an operating office. That distinction is not branding. It is how we assign authority.
Product mandate, capital, and the production standard sit in Dubai. Hong Kong runs the Asia hours: on-call overlap, customer operations, and the regional pin for institutions that must keep inference in Hong Kong.
Why Hong Kong exists
A Dubai-only on-call rotation cannot cover a Hong Kong desk's morning without turning every incident into a delayed page. We staff Hong Kong so that a residency-pinned hk project has humans in the same window as the pager, not a Slack message waiting for Gulf time.
Hong Kong does not get a separate control plane. There is one Eridian, one policy model, one signed record. Local staff have IAM. They do not have a fork.
What "HKMA-shaped" means for us
We are not a licensed bank. We do not speak for the HKMA. We do implement logging and accountability that Hong Kong institutions already expect from a production vendor:
- Complete invocation records, not sampled production
- Named humans on high-risk actions
- Residency pins that fail closed
- Export into the institution's own evidence systems
If a tenant's internal standard is tighter than ours, we inherit the tighter flags. We do not argue them down to a global default.
Pinning for Hong Kong matters
region: hk is a first-class pin, same as ae-dubai. Cache, logs, and provider endpoints have to map. If a provider cannot satisfy the pin, that model is not in the chain. We will not quietly serve from Singapore or Tokyo because the latency graph looks better.
Singapore appears in this paragraph as a place a packet might go if we were sloppy. It is not an Eridian office. It is a failure mode we refuse.
Follow-the-sun without split brain
Handoffs are a runbook, not a second product. The on-call assistant and the SIEM export are the same objects in Hong Kong as in Dubai. The person who picks up the page can see the same request_id. If they cannot, the office is a cost center with a view, not operations.
We will keep saying this until it is boring. Hong Kong is how we operate in Asia. Dubai is where the company is run.
